How We Operate
Here’s What We Do
Our mission at Midwest Community Outreach is to help as many families with extraordinary needs as we can. We always encourage families to reach out to us.
Unfortunately, due to the scope of our capabilities and resources, we may not be able to provide support to everyone who asks for our help. The following process is how we address all stories and needs that come our way:
First, all stories and requests are reviewed by our committee of five people. At this point, requests are chosen based on our capability to realistically provide help at that time. We then arrange requests that have potential to be supported in order based on perceived priority.
Next, we will arrange to speak with each family. This may be done in person or over a video conference call, if necessary or preferred. During these calls, we seek to:
- Learn and understand more about a family’s story, challenges, and needs.
- Discuss ways that we may be able to help.
- Confirm whether the family is able to accept the help that we offer.
Please note that we may request the legal release of certain information to be made public. This exposure is never for any negative purpose, but often to provide the public information for fundraising and volunteering efforts. We will fully and directly discuss with a family which pieces of information could be made public before any sort of agreement is made.
Once we have a goal for providing help, we then reach out to businesses, organizations, and volunteers to provide any assistance available. We tap our resources and networks as best we can to reach the desired results for the family. This may of course include direct donations of money and equipment, funding from raffles, and other sources.
Please contact us if you have any specific questions about our process. We want all families with extraordinary needs to feel welcome to approach us with their requests.
